Independence day is one of the most important day which is celebrated by Indian people on 15th August  every year.It is celebrated because on 15 August,1947 our country got freedom from the British rule.So from 15 August ,1947 this day is celebrated as Independence day in India.

Before 15 August,1947 british government ruled our country for about 200 years.Indian people are suffered too much from the british rule.Then some great leaders such as Mahatma gandhi,Chandrashekhar azad, Sardar  Bhagat singh came forward and fought for the freedom of India.

Many people sacrifices their life in freedom movements and protests against Britishers.But finally after years of efforts and many sacrifices our country got freedom from british rule on 15 August,1947 and therefore it is celebrated as Independence day of India.

 Independence day is celebrated every year to invoke the patriotic feeling among the each and every people of India and to remind the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and Indian peoples to achieve Independence.

Independence day is celebrated in schools,colleges,offices and in every part of our country with great enthusiasm,and variour cultural and patriotic activities and events are organised on this occasion.

In schools on morning time our national flag is  hosted at 8’o clock by the chief guests and then speech are delivered by chief guests ,teachers and students. After this different kind of cultural and  patriotic programes and events such as singing, dancing, debates, quizes , essay writing and painting competition are held in which students and teachers take part to make this moment memorable.

After the events their results are declared and prizes are distributed to the winners and at the end sweets are ditributed  and everyone went home with happiness and patriotic feeling in heart.
